The February 16, 2012, meeting of LGS was called to order by
President Brenda Fuselier, with a moment of silence and the pledge of allegiance.
Harold Prejean brought a king cake in celebration of his birthday.
There may be a possibility that a code for accessing LGS web site be given to members to enter information.
President asked if anyone has any storage place for all of our papers on CD, but it is not just
papers, there are books, etc., that need to be stored.
Earl Gates gave a very informative presentation on searching American Indian Genealogy.
He suggested several web sites that have a lot of information.
We have a TV personality – Vi Fontenot was on TV for what she thought of the high gas prices!
Michel-Antoine Nicholas, President of the Basque People in Louisiana, will have a presentation at
the South Lafayette Regional Library on Feb 22, 2012, beginning at 5:00 p.m. This is being
sponsored by the Centre of Louisiana Studies.
Ancestry.com will have free access to the 1930 census February 19-20, 2012.
Louisiana Genealogical and Historical Society will host their annual meeting April 28 2012,
at the Embassy Suites in Baton Rouge. Brian Castille will be speaker on Canary Islanders.
